This Saturday I’m hosting a Baby Shower with a friend to celebrate our college roommate’s first baby! It’s a boy! I wanted to have something cute to display on the mantel. The fire mantel is the focal point of our living room, and even if it’s stuck in the 80′s (it’s part of the list of things to renovate) I wanted something cute.

So, I did what most people do on a budget when they’re looking for a little inspiration. I went to the Dollar Tree! I picked up these items. It’s very easy to see how much I spent.
I selected 7 Candle Holders, ribbon, foam letters and tea lights. The glass candle holders were the biggest expense with this project but I know I can easily use them at Christmas by changing out the ribbon.

The first thing I did was wrap the ribbon around the glass holders. The holders have a lip at the bottom which helps keep the ribbon tight and in place. The ribbon is wired which made it very easy to mold to the candle holder. I used tape to keep it together. Super easy!

After putting the ribbon on, I added the foam letters. They were sticky on the back. Seriously, this took me 5 minutes! I’ll be able to slip the ribbons off easily to change the look since nothing (not even the tape) is sticking to the glass holders.

And of course, if you need to, ask for help.
The total cost for this project was only $10! I can re-use the candle holders and still have ribbon left over as well as foam letters. I’d say it was a winner!
