Hi Lynette – I have a quick question that you my have covered & I missed. How do you select which store you will be shopping at (since your secondary file folder has all of the stores in it). I’m torn between a place that doubles coupons and Walmart, for instance, that offers price matching. What will likely lead to the best savings?
Thanks, Mel
Hi Melanie,
I select the store that has the best deals that week and shop there. Last week it was Meijer. Two weeks ago it was Kroger. In between I went to Giant Eagle. I don’t go to every store, every week, because it takes too much time. I use my little file folder to keep store coupons organized for when I do visit that store. If you’re just starting out I would recommend picking one store and blocking all the others out. Get really good at using coupons at that store and familiarize yourself with their coupon policy and double coupons. To be honest, I get better deals at the Grocery Store over Wal-mart. The double coupons really do add up.
Love this site!!
Hi Lynette… I was actually wondering the same thing… more more more! My husband and I are really trying to create better control at the grocery store, both for healthy eating and healthy spending. Our first ‘real’ attempt at this was this past weekend, and I’d have to say that the pressure to hurry and get finished so we can leave for the store was almost unbearable. I sat down today on a quest… I need to learn how to do this right…TLC is for ENTERTAINMENT purposes only!!! lol Thank you so much for all the information on your site! I just went through the entire video series and feel so much more informed and empowered! I hope I can find that it’s really as easy as you made it seem! God bless you for doing this for us!
Thanks Jennifer! Everything becomes more simple as you practice it. I’ve been using my “method” for three years now and it’s a quick plan and a quick trip to the grocery store. Keep at it and you’ll find the perfect system for your family as well. Saving any money is still saving money!
I just started a new video series on Budgeting. You can find it here :: http://www.cleverlysimple.com/how-to-create-a-budget-and-stick-to-it-video-series/
Lynette will there be any more videos in this series or was week 11 the last one? These have really been helpful!
Hi Christi! This is the last video in this series but I’ll be starting a new series next week on How to Create a Budget and Stick To It. I’ll be talking alot about grocery shopping and how that fits in. I’ll also be doing videos on tips throughout the spring. Thanks for the encouragement!
