With how crazy our lives have been lately, I’ve been looking for little opportunities to create new memories and traditions for my boys. They’re at a really fun age (7 & almost 5). Everything is exciting to them. And they think mom is still cool. So when I was contacted by Philips Hue with some amazing lights to add some fun moods for Halloween, I was really excited to create them a special place for bedtime.
To set the mood, I purchased a tablecloth to put over their bedspread. It had an orange base and then a spiderweb material. It was perfect! I also picked out a few place mats to put on their pillows during the day. And since my theme was spiders and webs I added some spider web cotton to spread over their bed and nightstand. Really, it was a simple purchase to find these items but I think they added a little bit of fun for halloween.
But really, it looks really plain which is why I was excited to try out the Philips Hue Go.
What I like about the Philips Hue Go is that it’s a soft light that can be adjusted to different colors or just plain white. It doesn’t feel as harsh, but gives a soft glow. And since it’s Halloween, I can add a bit of mood to my design in the bedroom. I had a hard time picking between the purple and other colors. My boys didn’t care as they like to have a nightlight and this was the “coolest nightlight ever!”
The blue reminded me of the moon. I love it! The Philips Hue Go can be used for any time of year, not just for Halloween mood lighting. There are different shades of white light available which is perfect for during the day. Or the blue is my favorite for evenings to give a calming effect for the kids.
Perfect for moms like me is that many of the Philips Hue options are a connected lighting system. That means I can control them wirelessly. This is perfect since my boys would love to keep their room bright all night. I am able to turn the glow down a bit when they are asleep or even turn it off if I would choose to.
The possibilities are really endless. I can’t wait to try the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus for our new kitchen. The Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance products have 16 million colors so really there are quite a few options to create the ambiance you’re looking for. You can even add them to the pumpkin you have carved! No more burning my fingers on matches trying to light that little candle for the boys. 🙂
If you’re looking to get started, you can check out the Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance starter kit. It includes the bridge that connects to your wireless router. It also has three Philips Hue white and Color Ambiance A19 bulbs. In my mind, these are perfect for movie night or an elegant evening meal. (I don’t get too many of those with two young boys around! We’ll most likely be using it for movie night!) You can install the bulbs in any standard light figure!
All in all, I would say it was a success! Look at that sweet face. He was so, so excited to have his room decorated. And the lighting just added that extra little special touch.
