It’s that time of year. The time of year when the weather starts to turn and your skin starts to shrivel up into a dry dessert. I can always tell when the fall is coming to a close. My lips start to get chapped, my hands start to get so dry they hurt. As if the chilly weather wasn’t enough, my skin gets so dry! So when Vaseline contacted me about trying out their Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion Fragrance Free to see if it could heal my dry skin, I went all in. What is there to lose?
Now let me start by saying I’m not big on the idea of lotion. I realize this is puzzling since my skin becomes a dessert during the winter. But I find the greasiness of most lotions reason to stay away. With two young kids the moment my hands are too greasy is the moment I can’t open a door knob or the peanut butter lid. Picture a greased pig running circles around me. That’s my reality with most lotions. I’m also not big on the strong scents. I don’t really like smelling like a sugar cookie.
I received a packet from Vaseline. In the packet was strips to test my skin. I could tell you that my hands were so dry, but getting a picture of them was not really working. I was pretty excited to try out the strips since it gave me a “scientific” sort of way to really see if this lotion was going to work. Did I mention that the Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Lotion is clinically proven to heal dry skin in 5 days. and keep skin healed for 3 weeks? Let’s find out.
Here’s the results of my “before” test strip. I was actually surprised that I wasn’t in the “very dry skin” category. I’m probably getting there since winter is just starting. However, you can see that I definitely have some work to do to get to the “normal skin” category.
A few things I liked about this lotion. It’s fragrance free. That’s a winner in my book. It’s also a winner in my five year old’s book. Every time I wear some kind of perfume he definitely asks me what is going on and that he doesn’t like it. Ha! I also found it to be not too thick so it’s easy to spread. AND it’s not greasy. Within a minute of putting it on my hands, I could turn door knobs and peanut butter lids. 🙂
So after five days, here’s what my new test strip revealed. I’m actually really amazed. My hands feel a lot less dry and by the test strip, you can tell a huge improvement! Vaseline Intensive Care Lotions contain healing micro-droplets of Vaseline Jelly to deeply moisturize to heal dry skin. I think I can definitely see the difference because of that.
And just to really put it to the test this winter, I’m taking it with me to the gym. I swim and so that makes my skin even more dry. I’m glad I finally found a lotion that I like. I really do need it. The 10 oz bottle is priced around $4.99. I would look for sales and coupons to lower your out of pocket cost. If you’ve got dry skin like me in the winter, it’s worth every single penny!
