Okay, so I have one of the easiest DIY ornament ideas you’ll ever see. And it’s one of the cutest! I just love, love how these turned out! I was looking for a few unique ornaments to hang on our tree that would have sentimental value. Couple that with the fact I have quite a few cookie cutters lying around and this was the perfect DIY. This project cost me $0.50. That was the cost of a few pages of scrapbook paper.
To make these ornaments you’ll need:
metal cookie cutters (You could use plastic but I’ve not tested the plastic.)
scrapbook paper or photographs
needle & thread
scissors
pen
tacky glue
Trace the cookie cutter onto your picture (or scrapbook paper). You’ll want to make sure that you have the side down that you’ll be gluing on. If your’e using older cookie cutters like me, you’ll notice that one side is sharp and one side is dull. You’ll want to put the dull side down.
Once you have your picture or page cut out to the shape of the cookie cutter, place a thin bead of glue around the thicker, dull edge.
Firmly press the picture or page onto the cookie cutter. Don’t worry if a little glue seeps to the other side. It will dry clear. You can also take a toothpick or cotton swab to remove it. Turn your cookie cutter picture over and let dry.
Once the glue has completely dried, take a needle and string some thread through the top. Tie the thread at the top to make a loop.
And that’s it! Super easy to make and super cute! These would make a great gift or simple additions to your Christmas tree this year!
