Chewy butter pecan blondies loaded with chocolate chips. This easy dessert is topped with a layer of melted chocolate and loaded with a butter pecan flavor which is what makes them different than a traditional blonde brownie.
I decided to make this dessert on a whim. I had all the ingredients and was craving something chocolately and sweet. These did not dissapoint.
Created from a vintage Hershey’s recipe, the butter pecan cookie flavor brought me back to my days playing cards with my grandma. Her favorite was cream cheese cookies and butter pecan ice cream – so I guess you could say this was a spin off of those.
How to Make Butter Pecan Blondies
- With your mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until soft and fluffy. Add the flour and stir until fully incorporated.
- Stir in 1 cup of the chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of pecans. Add to a square baking dish lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 350˚ F for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and immediately 1 cup of chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes and then spread with a knife. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup pecans. Let cool before serving.
It’s a pretty simple and quick dessert to make that is unique. So if you’re in the mood for something different than chocolate brownies, give this one a try!
Tips
- Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to make sure that all ingredients are fully combined. Most importantly make sure the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla form a soft and fluffy batter before adding the flour.
- Line your square baking dish with two rectangle pieces of parchment paper like this. This will avoid the cookie bars from sticking to the sides of the pan. Trust me on this one.
- If your chocolate chips don’t seem to want to spread after 5 minutes, give them a few more minutes. They should melt to the consistency of peanut butter before spreading with a knife.
- You can double this recipe and use a 9×13 pan. Increase the baking time by 5- 10 minutes.
