Our Day Trip To Put-In-Bay – via Miller Ferry

By Lynette on August 10, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Last week we took off for a day of fun at Put-in-Bay.  Put-in-Bay is an island in Lake Erie that’s only a couple of hours drive from Central Ohio where I live.  I’ve been there many times in my life, but this time I took the day away with the boys and my parents since my husband had to work.  My mom says that when you board the Miller Ferry to head to Put-In-Bay, your blood pressure goes down about 10 points.  I agree with her.  You feel like you’re a world away – but lucky for us it’s only a short drive and a great ferry ride away!

We always take the Miller Ferry to Put-In-Bay.  I love the ride over and find it so relaxing.

My mom spent a week each year on Put-In-Bay island growing up so as soon as we arrived, she wanted to take the wheel – quite literally. I loved having her around because we discovered so many areas on the island that I did not know about.

Here’s a few things I recommend for your trip to Put-In-Bay:

E’s Golf Cart Rental – E’s may not be the first golf cart rental place you find when you get off the ferry – but it’s “no frills” approach will save you money.  Hike up the hill from Miller’s Ferry, turn right and walk about 30 yards.  You’re there! Great, fast service and our favorite place to grab a golf cart.

Soup and Whiskey – It’s a restaurant that’s off the beaten path and worth the ride to it’s location.  With plenty of places to sit and eat – I recommend the Perch tacos.  Yum!

Perry’s Monument – Although we didn’t have the opportunity to go to the top of Perry’s monument (it’s closed for renovations) – my history geekiness loved the museum.

Perry’s Family Fun Center – There’s lot to do.  We love to do the gem mining and the Butterfly house.

South Bass State Park – They have a lovely rock beach that’s perfect for swimming. Make sure to bring a change of clothes for the kids.  I’m glad I did!  🙂

Put-In-Bay has so much to do and the best part is – it’s closer than you think!  I always look forward to a day trip but next year we’re thinking about visiting for a much longer stay.  If you haven’t visited Put-In-Bay, I highly recommend you take the trip – and make sure to take the Miller Ferry on your way over!

What’s your favorite place to visit at Put-In-Bay?

My visit to Put-In-Bay was supported by Miller Ferry.  They hosted us – and we’re so glad they did!  All opinions are my own.
