homemade sugar scrub recipe

This is my last Mother’s Day gift idea for you this week!  It’s a good one because it is easy to make and doesn’t take too many ingredients.  It’s sugar scrub!  You can make this homemade sugar scrub recipe with just three ingredients.  What I love about it is that you know what’s going into it.  It also makes your hands super soft.  What better way to pamper mom than to make her something like this that will last quite awhile.

homemade sugar scrub recipe ingredientsTo make this sugar scrub recipe you will need sugar, olive oil and an essential oil.  I chose to use lemon because I love to use this sugar scrub on my hands after cutting onions.  Lemon works so well to get that oniony smell to go away.  If you have another essential oil that you love, you can use it as well.  I’ve also made lavender and it smells divine.

Mix ½ cup of sugar with ¼ cup of olive oil.  Add 15 – 20 drops of essential oil. This is a great step for kids to help with!

Add it to a glass container like these above.  You can find them at Meijer and will only pay $1.97!  I love them because they seal very well so that you don’t spill olive oil on your floor.  I know this by experience.  Trust me. 🙂

Moms will love this sugar scrub because it’s practical.  Nobody loves rough hands that smell like onion.  This inexpensive gift will be a hit!
