Key Ingredients

  • Warm Water: This is the base of our dough, activating the yeast and helping the dough rise. It should be between 100˚ – 110˚ F to ensure the yeast activates properly.
  • Active Yeast: This is the key ingredient that makes our dough rise, giving it a light and airy texture. Make sure your yeast is fresh for the best results.
  • All-Purpose Flour: This is the main dry ingredient in our dough, providing structure and stability.
  • Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the flavor of the dough, making it more delicious.
  • Olive Oil: This ingredient adds a rich, savory flavor to the dough and also helps to give it a crispy crust.

Equipment

  • Large Bowl – You’ll need this to mix together the flour, salt, yeast mixture, and olive oil.
  • Dark Baking Pan – This is essential for rolling out the dough and baking the pizza. Make sure to coat it with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Roller Pin – This is optional, but it makes rolling out the dough easier.

How to Make Easy No Rise Pizza Dough

Preparation

To start, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit until it bubbles. This will activate the yeast and make your dough rise.

Step 1 – Mix the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Once they are mixed, add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir everything together until the dough is soft and well incorporated.

Step 2 – Roll Out the Dough

Next, roll the dough out. You can do this by hand or use a rolling pin. Roll it out onto a dark baking pan that has a layer of olive oil on it. This will prevent the dough from sticking. Once the dough is on the pan, use a fork to poke holes in it.

Step 3 – Pre-Bake the Crust

Now, pre-bake the pizza crust. Place it in a preheated oven at 450˚F and bake for 5-6 minutes.

Step 4 – Add the Sauce and Cheese

After pre-baking, remove the crust from the oven and lift it from the pan to make sure it’s not sticking. Then, add your pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. You can also add your favorite pizza toppings at this point.

Step 5 – Bake the Pizza

Once your toppings are on, return the pizza to the oven. Bake it for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the bottom crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

Step 6 – Cool, Slice, and Enjoy

After baking, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Once it’s cooled, slice it up and enjoy your delicious, homemade pizza.

Expert Tip

To guarantee a crispy crust, make sure to pre-bake the dough for 5-6 minutes before adding your toppings in a dark pan. A light colored pan will not yield the same results.

If using a pizza stone, preheat the pizza stone in the oven. Roll out the dough and carefully place onto the hot pizza stone. Add toppings and bake for 12-14 minutes. You do not need to prebake the pizza dough when using a preheated pizza stone.

Recipe Variations

  • Different Flour: Try using whole wheat flour or bread flour for a different texture and flavor in your pizza dough.
  • Garlic Herb Crust: Add a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of dried Italian herbs to the dough for a flavorful garlic herb crust.
  • Thin Crust: If you prefer a thin-crust pizza, divide the dough in half and roll it out into two thin crusts instead of one thick one.

What to Serve With

  • For a classic pizza night, serve with a side of garlic bread and a fresh, crisp salad. The combination of the warm, cheesy pizza and the garlic bread is a true crowd-pleaser.
  • If you’re hosting a casual get-together, pair this pizza with some homemade potato wedges and a selection of dipping sauces. It’s a fun, finger food-friendly option that’s great for sharing.
  • If you’re looking for a cozy night in, serve this pizza with a bowl of tomato basil soup or creamy chicken soup. It’s the ultimate comfort food combo!

Recipe FAQs

What is no rise pizza dough?

No rise pizza dough is a quick and easy pizza dough that does not require the traditional time for the dough to rise. This recipe allows you to make a homemade pizza in a shorter amount of time.

Can you double this pizza dough recipe?

Yes! You can double, triple and even quadruple the recipe. If making multiple batches, I typically use the dough hook on my mixer to make the process easier.

Can I use a pizza stone to bake the pizza?

Yes. Preheat the pizza stone in the oven at 450˚ F. When preheated, remove the stone form the oven and top with your rolled-out dough. Top with toppings and bake for 12-14 minutes. You do not need to prebake your dough when using a pizza stone.

How to make a crispy crust with your pizza dough?

Two things. Use a dark pan. Also pre-baking the crust 5-6 minutes before adding the toppings really gets the process going towards a crispy pizza.

Can you make the dough ahead of time? Freeze it?

Yes. Bake the dough in the pan for 5-6 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. You can freeze the dough partially cooked and then it’s ready to be thawed and toppings added. I like this method when I’m making more than 4 pizzas so I can cut down on the time since I can only bake two pizzas at a time in my oven.

Storing and Reheating

  • Storing: Leftover pizza dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Just place it in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
  • Freezing: If you want to make your dough ahead of time, it can be frozen for up to 3 months after being pre-baked for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Thaw: When you’re ready to use your partially baked frozen pizza crusts, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

Serving Size

  • What to Expect: This easy no-rise pizza dough recipe yields enough for one 12-inch pizza crust or one 9×13-inch pizza crust, perfect for serving 3 people.
  • How to Scale: If you’re planning to serve more than 3 people, you can easily double the recipe. Just make sure your food processor or stand mixer is large enough to accommodate the increased quantity of ingredients. Follow the rest of the instructions as directed.
