Farmhouse Fall Decor

By Lynette on October 9, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Our farmhouse fall decor including piano and tabletop decorations is simple yet screams “I love autumn!”

As this is our first fall in our farmhouse, I was most excited to decorate for the season.  Fall has always been a highlight of the year for me.  The cool evenings, the cozy sweaters, the pumpkin spice – and the beautiful trees.  In fact, fall might be my very favorite.  I just try not to think about the season that comes next or the smell of manure being spread on the fields since it’s harvest time around here.  😉 It’s an exciting time of year as the leaves start to fall and I am excited to share with you how I’ve decorated our home simply.

How To Make Fall Decor

Whether you decide to make your own, or piece together unique textures and fall elements like I did, you’ll find plenty of inspiration online and in stores.  True Value has quite a few Halloween and Fall decoration ideas that you can browse from the comfort of your home with free shipping to your store.  If you’re in the mood to make your own, you can find great deals in your own backyard!  It’s free!  Many of the items I used like pinecones could be just a few steps out your back door.

When To Put Out Fall Decor

This was a tough question for me. When I was decorating our home we had gone from a few chilly weeks in Ohio to a downright heat wave.  It’s hard to think about cool evenings when the humidity is so high your air conditioner is on.  Nonetheless, I was ready and if you’re ready – then I say decorate!  No one can make the decision but you, right?

Speaking of timing, fall is also a great time to make sure your family has practiced fire safety.  Here’s a few tips to practice fire safety this season – as well as a view of how I decorated and created our fall decor.

You can find more information regarding home fire safety and prevention when you visit True Value.

Since we do not have a fireplace, which is odd for a home our age, I opted to decorate our piano in it’s place.  This simple wooden box I bought at an auction this summer for just a few dollars was the perfect rustic farmhouse touch.  I filled it with pumpkins and gourds that I can use year after year.  I’m practical like that.  I also thought these little burlap pumpkins were just too cute to pass up.

Using burlap I had leftover from a party and a few other details I found, the piano came together nicely with muted fall colors.

My favorite however, is how the tabletop came together.  Another auction find, the metal tray was only a few dollars.  I have no idea what it was used for originally, but I love it.  I found a blanket and used it as a tablecloth since I couldn’t find a tablecloth I liked better.  Putting a few candlesticks with candles and then randomly piling on the pine cones and pumpkins – it took less than a few minutes to pull this all together!

What do you have planned for decorating this fall?  While you’re feeling inspired take a few moments to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and practice other fire safety tips.  Then you can sit back, relax and enjoy this beautiful season of color!
