July 4th and Cedar Point

Cedar Point Fireworks

Happy Independence Day!  I thought I would pop in and share our awesome weekend with you.  With all the stress of moving and then waiting to close on the family farm house, we needed a weekend of fun and celebration.  So when I was given the opportunity to head to Cedar Point to not only enjoy the theme park with the kids, but the fireworks – we were all in!  My boys had yet to see fireworks since they’re still young and were usually asleep by the time the local fireworks started.  So we decided to expose them at fireworks at a theme park for the first time – because, why not?!

Cedar Point 1

Before the fireworks started, we made sure to enjoy the rides!  We arrived a little after lunchtime since we knew it would be a long day.  (The fireworks started at 10:30pm.)  Dad of the year, right there.  I can’t go on twisty rides or they make me so sick.  So dad gets to take the kids on those kinds of rides.  Lucky him!  🙂

Of course there are plenty of non-twisty rides for people like me.  My youngest was obsessed with the bounce house in Snoopy Land (He probably rode it 15 times. Not joking.)  We also rode the bus together.

The weather was beautiful last Saturday and the ride lines were not very long.  So they rode the bus again.  and again.  This time together.

Beautiful day at @cedarpoint! Turned 7 this week and gets to ride his first big roller coaster, the Corkscrew! #bloggingatcp #hosted #iheartcp #rollercoaster #growingupsofast

This kid was finally 48 inches tall this year!  That means he got to ride the big roller coasters and he chose the corkscrew!  He rode them again and again.  Oh, to be young again.

But the highlight of the day was, of course, the fireworks.  We were provided VIP seating which means we got to sit at the beach and enjoy all you can eat burgers and brats while we waited.  The cost was $20 for adults which I thought was super reasonable since it was our dinner.  We also received glow light necklaces (which the boys LOVED) and 3D glasses to enjoy the show.  You can find a list of other Cedar Point events here.

Fireworks at @cedarpoint with 3D glasses on. So cool! #cedarpoint #bloggingatcp #hosted #iheartcp #fireworks #july4th #beautiful #3d

The fireworks were awesome with 3D glasses. I tried to capture it on my camera phone. Pretty cool, eh?

We had one awesome day enjoying Cedar Point with the kids.  The drive home felt long to Columbus since we arrived home at 1:15am in the morning but it was all very worth it!  We had great weather and had a great time.  We’ve been to Cedar Point many times but there is always something new to do!  I can’t believe how much we can cram into a day and still feel like we could have spent more time there!

July 4 2

On Monday we celebrated Independence day by riding in our local parade in my brother’s Army truck.  We then spent time together as a family grilling out and playing in our friends pool.

All in all, it was a great weekend!  What a gift we have in this country to have the freedom that we have.  I will never take it for granted.

How was your July 4th weekend?

In return for sharing about my experience at Cedar Point, I received complimentary tickets.  The opinions and fun times were all mine!
