Laundry Room Renovation Makeover

Laundry Room Makeover Renovation-18

Our farmhouse renovation included many rooms in our home. While our laundry room was not the most exciting at first, this makeover has quickly made it one of my favorite spaces in our house.  It’s now a functional space we use as a mudroom and laundry room that has personality to fit our old home.  We achieved that personality with a fresh coat of EasyCare® Ultra Premium Paint that we purchased at a True Value.

When our farmhouse started to take shape during the renovation, the laundry room was a room that we knew had to have function for a number of reasons.  One, we wanted it to be a usable space for lots of stuff – our coats, shoes, more shoes and backpacks.  It also needed to be a functional laundry room for, none other than our laundry.

Our laundry room started out looking like this.  It was the grossest room in the house!  Everything was removed from this room except for the kitchen sink which we installed during our kitchen renovation.

The space became functional but didn’t have much personality.

We installed a toilet so that we had a half bath in the home.  We also installed an old cast iron sink that my brother had pulled out of a school years ago.

My favorite details we kept were the outside original siding that had been covered with drywall in the 1940’s.  We also installed five pantry cabinets to store everything from food to coat to shoes.

The easiest way I could think of to add personality to the space was to add a fresh coat of paint – that had color!  I headed to our local True Value hardware store and picked up some samples of their new EasyCare® Ultra Premium Paint.  Their paint is excellent quality for a great price.  The color I chose was Strong Wind for the walls and London for our door.  The EasyCare® Paint is 2X more scrubbable which is a must in a mudroom, plus I love the fact that it’s handcrafted in the USA with a lifetime warranty.  #winning

Painting doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task!  In fact we completely transformed our laundry room within one day – with help from family.  Check out my video above that gives my favorite paint tips when painting any room in your home, including picking out your paint color, how I avoid a messy paint can and more!

The color is bright and cheery, and I have a certain special attachment to blue.  It’s my favorite color.  We kept the siding white as it’s an original color to the house.  Because of the advanced finish paint & primer we only had use one coat for full coverage!  That saved us a lot of time.

Adding a barn wood shelf to hold essentials like laundry detergent and mismatched socks added to the function of the space.  We also found a towel holder at a local store and used a mirror that we had in the home in another area.Laundry Room Makeover Renovation-16

We also added a space to hang items that come out of the dryer.  (I don’t iron. 🙂 ) . We used gas piping and barn wood from our barn, so the cost was minimal to make this space functional!

If you are looking to transform a room, I highly recommend the new EasyCare® Ultra Premium paint from True Value.  With just one coat we were able to transform a functional space in our home that’s fun to look at!  It’s a low cost way to brighten a room and give it personality.  This Labor Day Weekend make sure to check out all the EasyCare deals at True Value.

Lynette, Love it! What a great tip on keeping the paint off the lip of can. I’m such a messy painter. I love the paint color. That is the color I was going for, but after painting my laundry room twice I still didn’t get the exact color. Oh well;)

Yes! That little hole on the paint can is the best. My dad taught me that years ago and I’ve been doing it every since. Easier clean up for the win!
It’s hard to pick the exact color sometimes which is why I paint a small area on the wall, and even then sometimes I’m second guessing. This time it worked out! Too many great colors out there!
