Life at Our Farmhouse (January 2020)

By Lynette on January 30, 2020 · 2 Comments

farmhouse in black and white

This update will be short as over half of the month our family was sick.  We’ve had a stomach virus, Strep, Flu A and Flu B in our home.  To say we were ready to feel better is an understatement.  It felt like when one person felt better another one went down.  Oh, man I am ready for spring.

Before we started falling ill over and over again we made a trip to see my grandma.  In our kitchen is her round table that was in her home.  But before she owned it, it was owned by my great-grandparents and was a part of their restaurant.  I just love that we found this picture and hope to get it hanging in my kitchen soon.

We also tried to get out of the house and visited a nearby train station that has been lovingly restored by volunteers.  Check out these floors!  Sometimes I wish I would have seen more inspiration like this before doing our house. How cool would this look in my kitchen!

This may be random, but I love living near a small town.  So much so that the post office still looks like it did a century ago.  I always giggle a bit when I see these post office boxes in antique stores…. because it’s literally how I get my mail from my PO box every week.  Why change things if they work!

All in all, I realize there’s not much to report here, other than at the moment we’re all healthy.  The lights are still on our front porch and I’ve decided to leave them there…. why not?  We’ve been too sick and it’s been too cold to worry about them, but to be honest, I really love the twinkle lights when it’s winter and it’s gloomy.

Hoping to have more to report next month!

Thanks for your monthly update. Be well and be warm. January is over!!!!! PTL. It wasn’t too bad up here in Ontario Canada, the temperatures have been moderate and not a lot of snow. I’m concerned we will have our winter in Feb and March. Days are getting longer already.

Thanks for following along! We hope to have warm weather soon but it looks like February here in Ohio is what you expected. 🙂
