On Monday, I’ll be sharing Memorial day with my family. Each year we attend a parade and Memorial service in a small town near us. I attended the same parade and service as a child. What I love about the service is that it truly honors those who died in active duty. As a child, I remember how each of the graves of the service members who died were marked. We would take a flower and place one at a grave. We would keep doing that until every single service member’s grave had flowers to adorn it. Now that I’m older and have my own children, I love that they get to be a part of that. After the service we head back to my home and enjoy a big feast.
I’m sharing some of my favorite fixins’ for Memorial day. I like things that are easy to fix so that the reason for the day can be the focus.

Here’s a few of my favorite Memorial Day recipes:
This is seriously one of the easiest sides you can make. And, it’s amazingly delicious! The avocado softens a bit on the grill and the cool salsa is the icing on the top. Yum!

Another easy one! This one is great because you can start it before leave for your Memorial day service. You can make it and then set the crockpot on warm while you’re away.
Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese
Where would we be without dessert?! This chocolate cherry cake is easy to make a day ahead and will be a rich and delicious dessert to accompany your dinner.
