Our family vacation to Cedar Point was a blaaast! Here’s a few tips if you’re looking to visit with kids.
Last month I had the opportunity to spend a few days with my family at Cedar Point’s Hotel Breakers. I was so busy with my little projects around the house this past month, I didn’t have a chance to sit down and share all about it. But this weekend, we finally had a chance to slow down together as a family, and it reminded me of the great time we had together. In fact, we’re planning to go back to Cedar Point later this month. If you also have plans to head up to Sandusky, Ohio, I wanted to share with you the amazing new renovations to Hotel Breakers and why we’ll be staying there again!
If you’ve ever had the chance to stay at Hotel Breakers, you know that it’s a great place to stay because of it’s convenience to Cedar Point. Hello, you have your own entrance to the park – an HOUR earlier than the general public. That alone, has made it worth it to us. Pair that with the fact that the Hotel Breakers entrance is right where we want to be with the kids, and you have a real winner. However, this time we were blown away by the new renovations. The rooms were unrecognizable. (In a good way!) They are absolutely beautiful and the colors are so fun.
Our favorite addition was the splash pad. We arrived on a Saturday morning and spent the day at the splash pad. The kids loved it so much. We really like this new addition, because the kids had a great place to play and we could really extend our stay. We spent one day just at the hotel, and then the next day the plan was to go to Cedar Point. My favorite part of the splash pad was a strategically placed bench for parents to sit on. Smart, Hotel Breakers.
I’m not sure many people know that if you stay at Hotel Breakers there is a fantastic beach on Lake Erie. My kids thought it was the ocean. I guess it is the ocean to kids who are growing up in Ohio. 🙂 We had fun digging in the sand after our time in the splash pad.
And then that evening, we spent some time at the Arcade. Ten dollars actually goes a long way with a six and three year old.
But sometimes it’s the simple things. Donuts in bed for breakfast!
Our favorite thing about the renovations are not only the beautiful additions to the rooms, but the amenities that give our family plenty to do for a day before we head the next day to Cedar Point. It really helps us to extend our stay with new things to do as a family!
Have you stayed at Hotel Breakers?
My stay at Hotel Breakers was provided free of charge. All opinions are all mine, all the time.

What a wonderful site you have. Chalked full of great money saving tips and DIY ideas. Loved your trip to Cedar Point. We were actually there right after kids got out of school in June. My husbands family lives in Vermillion, Ohio, so we it’s only about 30 minutes from Sandusky. We try to make it once a year. It’s my kids favorite place to go and they’re 9 and 15. Girl and a boy and wow are they different. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. We will try to check out Hotel Breakers sometime. They would love being so close and having that hour before anyone else arrives. Wow!
