Recipe Variations

  • Omit the Celery Seed: If you’re not a fan of the flavor of celery seed, feel free to omit it from the recipe. Your Parmesan biscuits will still turn out deliciously.
  • Use Shortening: While the recipe calls for butter, you can also use shortening as a substitute. This will give your biscuits a slightly different texture, but they’ll still be tasty.
  • Add Garlic: For a garlicky twist, add a teaspoon of garlic powder to the dough. This is a great option if you love the combination of garlic and parmesan.

Recipe FAQs

What makes these biscuits different from regular ones?

These biscuits stand out because they are loaded with the nutty, salty flavor of Parmesan cheese and a hint of celery seed, adding a unique and savory dimension to the classic biscuit.

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Yes, if you’re not a fan of Parmesan, you can easily swap it out for another hard, grated cheese like Pecorino or aged cheddar. This will give the biscuits a different flavor, but the recipe will still work well.

Storing and Reheating

  • Storing: Once the Parmesan biscuits have cooled completely, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: These biscuits can also be easily frozen after baking as well as before baking. After cutting the dough into rounds, place them on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to a resealable plastic bag or airtight container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months.
  • Thaw: When you’re ready to enjoy the biscuits, simply let them thaw at room temperature.
  • Reheating: To reheat, just place the biscuits on a baking sheet and warm them in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes.

Serving Size

  • What to Expect: This Parmesan biscuit recipe yields about 10 savory, delicious biscuits.
  • How to Scale: If you’re planning to serve more than 10, you can easily double the recipe. Just make sure to work in batches if your food processor isn’t large enough to accommodate a double portion of the dough. Follow the rest of the instructions as directed.
