Description
Easy sour cream coffee cake recipe with a brown sugar crust and caramelized sugar base. A moist and delicious pairing with a hot cup of coffee.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Cup white sugar
- 2 Tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 large egg
- 1 Cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 Cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Middle & Topping
- 3/4 Cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon flour
- 2 Tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Combine white sugar and butter. Add egg and sour cream and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until combined. Add half of the batter to a 8×12 baking pan.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and flour. Sprinkle half onto the batter in the baking pan.
- Add the remaining batter to the baking pan.
- Add butter to the remaining brown sugar mixture and sprinkle on top.
- Bake at 375˚ F for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Notes
If you don’t have an 8×12 baking pan you can use a square 8×8 baking pan. Adjust your baking time to make sure the cake bakes through.
