This is our first summer at our new home. The kids have been enjoying the wide open spaces and are barefoot quite often. But with spring turning into summer – the bugs have started to arrive making for itchy frustrations.
Ticks here. Ticks there. Ticks everywhere. If your experience has been like ours this summer, you’ve been having problems with ticks. I’ve pulled a tick off my neck and both of my sons have had ticks that had to be removed. Ewwwww! However, I’m not going to keep my kids from playing in the wide open spaces just because of the ticks. I wanted to share with you what we’ve been using to keep the ticks at bay since our original encounters. I hope this helps someone out there who also loves to have their kids wandering around outside during the summer months. (I always wonder how I made it through the winter when summer arrives and I can send the kids outside. All. The. Time.)
Guardian is a DEET-free alternative to traditional repellents. It is plant-based to keep our family protected from mosquitos and ticks. It’s non-toxic which gives this mama some peace of mind when I’m spraying it over every inch of my kids.
One of my favorite things about Guardian is that it lasts up to 8 hours for mosquitos and 4 hours for ticks. My oldest son hates to have anything on him and the fact that I don’t have to apply regularly is awesome for me – and for him.
I picked up Guardian at Kroger. If you’re not near a Kroger you can find it on Amazon.
This being our first summer with acres of land for the kids to play on, I don’t want bugs to get in the way – since applying Guardian, we’ve not had a tick come into the house. And while mosquitos haven’t been in abundance YET, I am confident we’ll have some hot summer days where I’ll be glad I have Guardian on hand.
There is something about exploring outside that makes my heart so happy for my boys. But with the outside comes ticks and mosquitos – finding Guardian is the perfect addition to our summer.
Find Guardian at your local Kroger store. Starting June 18th, Guardian will be 25% off! (If your local Kroger doesn’t carry it, grab it on Amazon here.)
