Description
Easy apple pie recipe from scratch using basic pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
- 2 TB butter or margarine
- 1 pie crust
Instructions
Heat oven to 425.
Cut apples into small pieces. I like my apples fully cooked hence I cut them very small.
In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in apples.
Spread a tablespoon of flour at the bottom of the pie crust and poke holes with a fork. My grandma did.
Place apple mixture into pie plate. Cut butter and place on top of apples.
Cover with top pastry.
Bake at 40-50 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Notes
If you like nutmeg you can add 1/4 tsp nutmeg to the apples before adding to the pie crust. Personally, I think it’s grand without it. But if you ❤️ nutmeg, then go for it!
