Grandma's Crunchy Walnut Bread

Crunchy walnut bread recipe that's a family favorite.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease and flour a standard size bread pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 Tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • In a smaller bowl or cup, whisk together 1 cup milk (any kind) and 1 egg. Stir your milk and egg mixture into your flour mixture until combined.
  • Coarsely chop shelled walnuts until you have 1 cup. Stir the walnuts into the batter and spread it into your prepared pan.
  • Bake for 50 minutes - 1 hour or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes and then remove from pan and cool completely.
