Strawberry Waffles

This strawberry waffle recipe creates a waffle that has crispy edges and is soft in the middle with bursts of strawberry in every bite. Homemade ingredients are mixed with bits of fresh strawberries to create a breakfast treat that is best topped with maple syrup, whipped cream or sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Strawberry Waffle Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup fresh strawberries
  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 Cups milk
  • 1/2 Cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping Ideas (optional)

  • 3 Cups whipped cream
  • 3 Tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 Cup maple syrup

Instructions

  • Prep: Heat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Spray with cooking spray or brush with butter. Cut strawberries into dime size pieces.
  • Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Using a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix together the wet and dry ingredients. Stir in the strawberries.
  • Cook: When your waffle iron is heated, add the appropriate amount of batter and cook according to manufacturer instructions. Serve warm topped with maple syrup, whipped cream or powdered sugar.

Storage:  Once waffles are cool, store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerate for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.  Use a toaster oven or toaster to reheat.
