How to Cook Apple Pie: Easy Apple Pie!

Easy apple pie recipe from scratch using basic pantry ingredients.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
  • 2 Tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 pie crust

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 425˚ F.
  • Cut apples into small pieces.  I like my apples fully cooked hence I cut them very small.
  • In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.  Stir in apples.
  • Spread a tablespoon of flour at the bottom of the pie crust and poke holes with a fork.  My grandma did. Place apple mixture into pie plate.  Cut butter and place on top of apples. Cover with top pastry.
  • Bake at 40-50 minutes at 425˚ F.

Notes

If you like nutmeg you can add 1/4 tsp nutmeg to the apples before adding to the pie crust.  Personally, I think it's grand without it.  But if you ❤️ nutmeg, then go for it!
