About Lynette Rice

Hi – I’m Lynette: the founder, home cook, recipe tester, and photographer for Cleverly Simple.  My kitchen-tested recipes come from the treasured recipe boxes passed down for three generations in my family. Come into my kitchen alongside me with my step-by-step tutorials as I teach you as my grandma and mom taught me.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education and taught for a number of years before deciding to stay at home when my son was born and start this website in 2010.  Cleverly Simple displays my desire to help you weave time-honored recipes into your routine to create a sense of simplicity and tradition.  My recipes and projects have been featured in Country Living, Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful, and others.

Classic Family Recipes for Everyday Life

What You’ll Find on Cleverly Simple

I’m the sixth generation to live in my family’s homestead and inherited generations of recipe boxes filled with tasty homemade meals, sides and desserts. Here you’ll find time-honored recipes with ingredients you’ll find at the grocery store. Most are made from scratch, some include a box mix, but all are delicious and satisfying.

Keeping traditions alive, one recipe at a time.

I learned to cook and bake at the elbows of my grandmother and mother and delite in passing on the knowledge and skill they instilled in me. My recipes are created multiple times in my farmhouse kitchen and taste tested by my family to bring you only the very best.

I believe creating a beatiful life filled with tradition includes simple approachable recipes that are special enough to become your new family favorites. I’m always available to answer questions so reach out at any time!
