Peeps S’mores Dip

This Peeps s’mores dip is my go-to when I want something fun and easy for Easter. The chocolate melts into a rich layer under those colorful marshmallow chicks, and it’s ready in minutes. It always brings smiles to the table.

A Fun Spring Dessert

This recipe is a lifesaver when you need something quick but still want it to feel special. It takes just a few minutes to put together, and the oven does the rest. The best part is watching the peeps toast and soften while the chocolate melts underneath. It’s simple, fun, and always a hit with both kids and adults.

I was looking for something easy and cheerful to make for Easter since we were traveling, and that’s how this peeps s’mores dip came to life. It uses the same simple ingredients as my oven baked s’mores dip, but the colorful peeps make it feel like a celebration. When it comes out of the oven, the chocolate is perfectly melted, and the peeps are puffed and golden on top. It’s the kind of dessert that makes everyone stop and smile before digging in.

I like to use a smaller baking dish so the chocolate stays warm and gooey while we eat. If we have a bigger group, I just bake another batch. It’s one of those desserts that’s best enjoyed right away, with everyone gathered around dipping graham crackers and laughing as the chocolate stretches.

Key Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Chocolate bars: The base of the dip and what gives it that rich, melty layer everyone loves. I like using classic milk chocolate bars, but dark or white chocolate works too if you want to change up the flavor.
  • Peeps: These colorful marshmallow chicks make the dip fun and festive. You can use any shape or color — bunnies, chicks, or even seasonal ones for other holidays.
  • Graham crackers: Perfect for dipping into the warm chocolate and toasted peeps. If you want a little salty contrast, pretzels or salted chips are great options too.

How to Make Peeps S’mores Dip

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 450°F and lightly spray a small baking dish with cooking spray. Unwrap the chocolate bars and break them into smaller rectangles so they fit evenly in the dish. Set out the peeps and graham crackers so everything is ready to assemble quickly.

Step 1 – Layer the Chocolate

Arrange the chocolate pieces in a single, even layer on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Make sure the entire surface is covered so the chocolate melts evenly while baking.

Step 2 – Add the Peeps

Place the peeps on top of the chocolate, lining them up close together. You can mix colors or shapes for a fun, festive look. The peeps should completely cover the chocolate layer.

Step 3 – Bake Until Toasted

Bake in the preheated oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the chocolate has melted and the tops of the peeps are lightly browned. Keep an eye on them near the end since they toast quickly.

Step 4 – Serve Warm

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for about a minute. Serve right away with graham crackers for dipping. The chocolate should be smooth and melted, and the peeps soft and golden on top.

Lynette’s Tip

Don’t over bake. You will notice that the peeps start to crack and expand. This is letting you know that they are heated completely. You can pull out and test the chocolate, by running a knife in the middle to see if the chocolate has melted.

Notes

Tip: Don’t overbake. You will notice that the peeps start to crack and expand. This is letting you know that they are heated completely. You can pull out and test the chocolate by running a knife in the middle to see if the chocolate has melted.
Make Ahead: Assemble the chocolate and peeps in the baking dish a few hours before serving. Cover it lightly with plastic wrap.  When ready to bake, remove the plastic wrap and bake just before serving so the chocolate melts and the peeps toast perfectly.
Storing: This dessert is best enjoyed right after baking. Once cooled, the chocolate hardens and the peeps lose their soft texture, so plan to serve it fresh from the oven.
Reheating: If the dip cools slightly, place it back in a warm oven for a few minutes until the chocolate softens again. Avoid microwaving, as it can cause the peeps to overheat and become chewy.

Variations

  • Try Different Chocolate: Swap the milk chocolate for dark, white, or peanut butter chocolate bars. Each one melts beautifully and gives the dip a slightly different flavor.
  • Add a Salty Crunch: Use pretzels, saltine crackers, or potato chips for dipping instead of graham crackers. The salt balances the sweetness perfectly.
  • Change the Marshmallows: Use seasonal marshmallows like clovers for St. Patrick’s Day or flowers for summer. It’s an easy way to make this dessert fit any holiday.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use different types of chocolate?

Yes, any chocolate that melts smoothly will work. Try milk, dark, or white chocolate, or even a mix for a richer flavor.

How do I know when the dip is ready?

Watch for the peeps to puff slightly and turn golden on top. The chocolate underneath should be melted and smooth when you test it with a knife.

What should I serve with peeps s’mores dip?

Graham crackers are the classic choice, but pretzels, vanilla wafers, or salted chips also taste great for dipping.

Can I use a large baking dish?

A smaller dish works best so the chocolate melts evenly and stays warm while serving. If you need more, bake a second batch instead of doubling it in one pan.

How can I keep the peeps from over-browning?

Keep a close eye on them after the three-minute mark. Once they start to puff and lightly brown, remove the dish from the oven right away.
